Chief of Staff
Full-Time | New York, NY
SONATA is a doctor-led healthcare membership focused on preventing disease before it starts. We combine the deepest testing available — whole-genome sequencing, 140+ biomarkers, epigenetics, polygenic risk, and metabolic measures — with ongoing physician-led care, all powered by our clinical AI. We're built from scratch for the AI era, so our doctors can practice medicine no human could alone.
We're backed by Lux Capital, BoxGroup, and Sunflower Capital.
As Chief of Staff, you'll work directly with the founders on the company's most important problems—from operations to growth strategy to whatever the week demands. This is an operating role, not an executive assistant role.
What you'll do:
- Own the highest-leverage problems and special projects end to end—the ones that decide whether we win, plus the launches, partnerships, events, and hiring in between
- Own the member experience end to end—onboarding, care-team coordination, and the white-glove standard that makes membership worth it
- Lean heavily on AI to automate and replace the manual work that slows everyone down
- Build and pressure-test our growth strategy—find the levers, model them, then go execute
- Fill gaps and do whatever it takes for SONATA and our members to win, even when it doesn't fit a job description
You should have:
- A track record of unusual ability and pace—at least 3 years in a high-performance environment like MBB, investment banking, or private equity, and a desire to operate, not advise
- A bias to move fast—you shorten the distance between idea and execution, focus on what matters, cut cycle time, build instead of documenting, and respond to customers quickly
- A deep sense of ownership—you take full responsibility and deliver results, no excuses, and you hold yourself accountable to the whole team, not just your own lane
- A real care for craft and quality—with an eye for design and a habit of sweating the details others skip
- An AI-native way of working—you already use AI to create leverage in your own work, and you'll use it here to replace manual effort
- Strong quantitative chops—comfortable with data and a spreadsheet, able to build the model yourself (SQL a plus)
- The presence to be warm and competent in any room—you read people fast, build trust, and bring partners, vendors, and hires along
- The confidence to push back on the founders—on priorities, strategy, and execution—when you think they're wrong
